Day 3 - Tech Museum, IMAX and Star Trek!

Today we went to the Tech Museum from San Jose. We saw a lot of IT and scientific discoveries explained and the museum had an extremely developed the side of interaction between the visitor and the machineries inside it. As we walked around we had the privilege of trying the machineries and playing the games displayed around. One game was about genetics; you had displayed the gene model for a cancerous gene and one for a healthy gene, then you had to choose a patient, and based on the gene model you had to give a diagnostic: chemotherapy or no chemotherapy. The next one told you the history and the medical problem of the patient, and based on the information about the medicine, you had to prescribe the right vitamins or pills to fit and satisfy the patients needs. It felt great to be a doctor for a few minutes!

Furthermore, as we walked around I found the wall with the palm print of great astronauts and Space Fleet Captains; I was extremely excited as I am a fan of Star Trek, and there was a palm print of Jean-Luc Picard!

After spending four hours looking around and interacting with the medical and computer machineries we bought tickets for Star Trek: Into Darkness, as inside this museum there was the biggest IMAX screen and sound system cinema IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!! An awesome movie and a great cinema experience! Miriam as a weekly cinema goer had a blast and never felt such an amazing feeling while watching a Star Trek movie!

After all of these activities, we went to Walmart and experienced the 'American way' of purchasing food and other products. When we were all done shopping, we hurried to the hotel, where the girls watched some TV series and the boys went to the gym and worked on their "muscles".

Azi am mers la Muzeul de Tehnologie din San Jose. Am văzut multe descoperiri computeristice și științifice, iar muzeul mai avea și o parte de interacție între vizitator și exponate extraordinar de dezvoltată. Așa cum mergeam prin muzeu am avut privilegiul de a testa mașinăriile și de a ne juca pe jocurile afișate. Un joc era despre genetică; avea afișat un model genetic pentru gena canceroasă și unul pentru gena sănătoasă, apoi trebuia să alegi un pacient, și bazat pe acel model genetic tu dădeai un diagnostic: chemoterapie sau fără chimiterapie. Următorul joc îți spunea istoria medicală și problema pacientului, și bazat pe această informație și pe prospectul medicamentlui, tu prescriai vitaminele sau pastilele corespunzătoare pentru pacientul respecrtiv. A fost un sentiment minunat să fii doctor pentru câteva minute!

Mai departe, așa cum ne plimbam prin muzeu am găsit peretele cu imprimeul palmei celebrilor astronauți și a Căpitanilor a Flotei Spațiului; eu am fost foarte emoționată deoarece sunt un mare fan Star Trek, și printre acele imprimeuri palmare era și cea a lui Jean-Luc Picard!

După ce am petrecut aproximativ patru ore în muzeu absorbind informația din-prejur și interacționând cu mașinăriile medicale, am cumpărat bilete la filmul Star Trek: În întuneric, deoarece în înăuntrul muzeului se afla cel mai mare cinema cu ecran IMAX și sistem de sunet DIN LUMEA ÎNTREAGĂ!!! Un film extraordinar, la fel ca și experiența cinematografică! Miriam, ca și cinefil loial a avut parte de o experiența grozavă așa cum a vizionat filmu Star Trek!

După toate aceste activități, am mers la Walmart, unde am văzut 'stilul American' de a cumpăra, iar când am terminat, ne-am grăbit către hotel. Fetele s-au uitat la seriale, în timp ce băieții au mers la sală să-și lucreze "mușchii"
