Day 5

Day 5 - Honorary Consul, Los Gatos and steaks!

Today we had the honour of meeting the Honorary Consul of Romania in San Francisco, Mr. George Roth. We shortly found out that the parents of some of the students participating in the trip were classmates with Mr. George throughout High School. 

After he was introduced to us all, he joined us in our brave journey through the area of Los Gatos, CA.  The are is called like this because of the pumas used to live and wander around before the city was built; some of them still come around - yet, they so not harm human beings who leave them alone.

He showed us the Artists' Summer Camp, one of the most beautiful views of Sunnyvale and, nevertheless, he has shared with us precious information regarding the history of San Francisco and Sunnyvale.

Unfortunately, he had to leave early, as he is a busy man and has to keep up with his schedule. Yet, before leaving, he has offered us some guidelines and advice regarding what to visit before going out for dinner.

Finally, when we were done visiting, we went back to the hotel in order to change in some fresh clothes, after which we went to the restaurant Los Gatos where the boys and the teachers leading the trip ordered some steak meals - the girls had already eaten a healthy vegetarian dinner at their preference. And of course, as every meal should end, everybody was laughing and making jokes or discussing interesting facts we found out in the few days we had already spent here.

Azi am avut onoarea de a-l întâlni pe Onorabilul Consul al României din San Francisco, D-l George Roth. În scurt timp am aflat că unii dintre părinții anumitor elevi din excursie au fost colegi de liceu cu D-l George.

După ce s-a prezentat tuturora, ne-a acompaniat in curajoasa noastră căltăorie în zona Los Gatos, California. Această zonă este numită în acest fel deoarece pumele obișnuiau să trăiască și să rătăcească pe aici înainte de construirea orașului; unele dintre ele încă mai vizitează orașul - însă ele nu prezintă un pericol pentru oamenii care le lasă în pace.

Ne-a mai arătat și Tabăra de Vară a Artiștilor, una dintre cele mai frumoase vederi panoramice a Sunnyvale-lului si mai mult decât atât, ne-a împărtășit informații prețioase cu privire la istoria San Francisco-ului și a zonei Sunnyvale.

Din păcate, a trebuit sa plece mai repede, deoarece el este un om foarte ocupat șși trebuie să țină pasul cu programul. Însă, înainte de a pleca, ne+a oferit informații care să ne ghideze și sfaturi in legătură cu ce s vizităm înainte de a lua cina.

Într-un final, când am terminat de vizitat, ne-am întors la hotel pentru a ne schimba in haine curate, după care am mers la restaurantul Los Gatos, unde băieții și profesorii ce conduc excursia s-au bucurat de o masă ce consta în fripturi - fetele deja mâncaseră o masă vegetariană săntoasă, în concordanță cu dorința lor. Și, desigur, așa cum orice masă ar trebui să se termine, toată lumea râdea și glumea sau discutau dinformațiile interesante care le-am acumulat pe parcursul șederii noastre aici.
